I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, to transmit to you a copy of a letter, and of its enclosure from Mrs. Nowell, the widow of the late Master of the "Gabella", who died in Hong Kong on 23rd June 1858, as to the effects of her late husband, and I am to request that you will move the Duke of Newcastle to instruct the Governor of Hong Kong to make the necessary enquiries, with a view to the property of this person being remitted to this Board by the person whose duty it is to take charge of the property of deceased at Hong Kong.
